Our Food for a Healthy Heart class provides practical skills and knowledge to enhance heart health through simple dietary and lifestyle changes, with a focus on reducing the risk of heart attacks and heart disease. We address critical cardiovascular risk factors like high blood pressure and cholesterol, offering nutrition strategies and recipes for improvement. The class includes a cooking demonstration of delicious, health-promoting dishes, along with easy, budget-friendly recipes for home cooking.
Let’s Beat Breast Cancer
This series spotlights the connection between diet and cancer risk, with a focus on different foods and nutrients that can encourage or discourage cancer growth, including breast cancer. The classes feature cooking demonstrations of health-promoting dishes and provide handouts with easy, affordable recipes for home use. Designed for cancer survivors, their families, friends, and those interested in prevention, these classes are not intended for individuals currently undergoing breast cancer treatment.
Power Foods for the Brain
This class equips you with the tools to combat cognitive decline, including Alzheimer’s and dementia, by focusing on foods and nutrients that support optimal brain health. It includes a cooking demonstration of delicious recipes made from brain-boosting foods and provides handouts of easy and affordable recipes for home cooking.
The Cancer Project
This series offers a choice of one, five, or seven classes, emphasizing the vital link between diet and cancer risk. Participants gain insights into foods and nutrients that can either promote or deter cancer development. Each class includes a cooking demo of healthful dishes and provides easy, affordable recipes. This program is designed for cancer survivors, their families, friends, and those interested in cancer prevention; it is not suitable for individuals currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Diabetes Initiative
The Diabetes Initiative offers an eight-class series empowering individuals to reduce diabetes risk and manage or potentially reverse the disease. Designed for those with diabetes, prediabetes, or related risk factors, including their adult family members, each class combines nutrition education and cooking demonstrations. Participants receive affordable, easy-to-prepare recipes.
Kickstart Your Health
Based on the Physicians Committee’s 21-Day Vegan Kickstart book, this seven-class series fosters healthy weight loss, maintenance, and an overall nourishing and sustainable diet. It prioritizes food choice over restricting amounts for long-term health. Participants gain delicious recipes that contribute to lower cholesterol, diabetes control, blood pressure management, increased energy, and improved mood. Each class includes a cooking demo and provides easy, budget-friendly recipes.
Healthy Basics
This four-class series introduces budget-friendly and accessible dietary strategies. Participants learn to connect diet and disease outcomes while exploring easy-to-prepare recipes. Minimal kitchen tools are needed for food preparation, making these strategies cost-effective and practical. Attendees leave with knowledge and strategies for both short- and long-term savings, improving their quality of life. Each class includes a cooking demo with samples of delicious and health-promoting dishes, as well as handouts featuring easy, budget-friendly recipes they can easily make at home.
Your Body in Balance
This nine-class series explores hormone-related conditions impacting individuals of all ages. Participants learn dietary strategies to balance hormone levels, addressing infertility, thyroid health, and more. Topics include Reversing Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Conquering Diabetes, Tackling Menopause, Curing Erectile Dysfunction, A Healthy Thyroid, Foods for Fertility, Curing Cramps and Premenstrual Syndrome, Foods and Mood, and Avoiding Environmental Chemicals. Each class features a cooking demo and provides handouts with affordable, easy-to-prepare recipes.
Food for Fitness
For competitive athletes or active individuals, this course unveils optimal foods and nutrients for enhanced athletic performance and reduced inflammation. Participants also discover dietary strategies to support recovery. Each class features a cooking demo with health-promoting dishes and provides handouts featuring easy, budget-friendly recipes for home preparation.
Employee Wellness Program
This four-class series, designed for kids aged 9 to 12 (grades 4-6), offers a fun learning experience. Emphasizing the positives of healthy foods found on the Power Plate, children discover the benefits of a nutritious diet while enjoying delicious foods from live cooking demos. Through games and activities, they solidify their knowledge and receive recipe handouts for home use. The series aims to provide foundational knowledge and skills, setting children up for lifelong success in health.
Employee Wellness Program
The Employee Wellness Program offers a nine-week workplace series guiding staff members toward better health through food choices. With plant-based nutrition education, cooking demos, and group support, employees gain practical tools for improved health and reduced chronic disease risk. Benefits include lower healthcare costs, fewer sick days, increased energy, and improved moods for employees, while employers enjoy reduced absenteeism, lower healthcare costs, and improved staff productivity.
